How to Recover a VM in ArcServe UDP 6.5 Step By Step With Screenshots

In my previous tutorial i had explained how to create instant Virtual Machine(IVM) From Backup in Arcserve UDP 6.5 in this tutorial i have explained how to Recover a Virtual Machine in ArcServe UDP 6.5.

Question:- Why we need to recover the Virtual Machine ?
Answer:- find the following common reason and solutions to restore the Virtual Machine.

  • In case of Production Virtual Machine goes down :- You can restore the Virtual Machine on Same ESXi Host from backup.
  • In case of Storage failure :- You can restore the Virtual Machine on different Datastore from backup.
  • In case of ESXi OS failure :- You can restore Virtual Machine on different ESXi Host from backup.
  • In case of Hardware failure of ESXi : - You can restore Virtual Machine on different ESXi Host from backup.
  • In case of Guest OS is not booting :- You can restore the Virtual Machine on Same ESXi Host from backup.
  • So just find the following step to Recover a Virtual Machine in ArcServe UDP 6.5.
Step 1. Login into Arcserve console.
Step 2.Go to resources tab select Recovery point Server then click on action button and Browser recovery point Server.
Step 3. Now Select action button and click on Restore.
Step 4. Now you can see Restore wizard is open so just select Recover VM option and wait for next screen.
Step 4.Here you need to select the node which you want to recover so in this Lab i am recovering Server 2012 which you can see now select the recovery point date then select the backup and click on next button.
Step 6.Here you have to select restore destination so in this Lab i am recovering the Virtual Machine on an alternative location so just select the location and click on connect vCenter or ESXi host to recover the Virtual Machine.
Step 7.Here you can see now ESX server is connected so just select the Datastore where you want to recover and click on next button if you want change the name of recover Virtual Machine for identification you can do it will help you to find the Virtual Machine in vCenter or ESX Server in case of if you have 1000 of Virtual Machine or more.
Step 8.Here you can see the Restore Summary of Virtual Machine so verified the Summary and click on Finish button.
Step 9.Now you can see recovery process is started so wait for sometimes if you want to see the process then just click on details option.
Step 10.Here you can see the restore status like Start time,Elapsed time,Estimated time,Current Disk and throughput speed so wait for sometimes to recover the Virtual Machine.
Step 11.Here you can see recovery process is completed now click on view log option to see the recovery status.
Step 12.Now you can see that Virtual Machine has been recover successfully now you can login in your ESXi console to check the Virtual Machine Status.
Step 13.Here you can see Virtual Machine has been recover successfully now i am going to powered on the Virtual Machine.
Step 14.Here you Need to Select the Virtual Machine and then click on Powered on option.
Step 15.Here you can see Virtual Machine is powered On and it is working fine.
